Christ spoke about the importance of Truth, true-blues have the
word 'true' embedded as part of their name, and they call those
who are True; "Fair Dinkum", the genuine article, sincere, honest,
without pretence or hypocrisy!
Previous a.c.t-b NG discussions have highlighted how traditional
Australian society was predominately Christian; churches
in every small town, people celebrating Christian festivals
such as Christmas and Easter, following Christian sacraments;
Baptism, Marriage, Funerals as part of their culture,
As Ned describes, using his family as an example, some were not
Fair Dinkum, they were nominal - in name only.
The Bible describes this state, not very flatteringly, and true-blues
would call them posers, faux, fakes, pretenders who carried out
certain practices not because they believed in them, but as acts
of conformity with the established order. You have to be Fair Dinkum
to call yourself a true-blue, otherwise like the Lathams Ned describes
so frankly, you are part of a long line of frauds and insincere hypocrites;

The true-blues were fair dinkum about it, you can't be a true-blue
and fake your basic beliefs! 8^o

No one is surprised that Ned comes from a long line of
pretenders.. and there is little wonder why Ned is so overtly
hostile to a belief system he knows only through a prism
of hypocrisy and falsehood.
You can be Fair Dinkum, or fake, you can't be both.
And if you aren't Fair Dinkum, you aren't true-blue
Christ denounced hypocrites and the bible condemns the
'luke warm' , those whose heart really isn't in it.
In the real world we can see why, those who aren't genuine can
let down the whole teams effort, because they are not really as
committed as the genuine believers, and at the first difficulties
they usually fold like deck chairs on the Titanic.
